Tampa Bay right-hander Tyler Glasnow will make his first start since June 2021 for the Rays on Wednesday against the Cleveland Guardians.

Glasnow underwent Tommy John surgery in August 2021 after being diagnosed with a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament and a flexor strain in his pitching arm. The initial expectation was that he would miss the entire season.

Manager Kevin Cash said Glasnow was scheduled for a light bullpen session on Sunday and would be limited to about 45 pitches in Cleveland.

Glasnow, 29, began his career with the Pittsburgh Pirates and was traded to the Rays in 2018. He posted a 5-2 record and 2.66 ERA in 14 starts before the injury last season.

In 104 career games (65 starts), Glasnow is 20-20 with a 4.04 ERA and 506 strikeouts in 403 innings, an average of 11.3 per nine innings.
