Jason Kidd and Tyronn Lue are among the contenders for the Brooklyn Nets' coaching vacancy, The Athletic reported Tuesday.

The Nets are preparing a "full scale" coaching search to replace Kenny Atkinson, who departed days before the NBA season was paused on March 11 due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to the report.

Nets interim coach Jacque Vaughn, Jeff Van Gundy and Philadelphia 76ers assistant Ime Udoka are also potential targets for the post, per the report.

Vaughn will remain the interim coach through the playoffs.

The Nets are looking for a coach who can take the reins of a contender next year with the healthy returns of superstars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

Kidd had a coaching stint with the Nets in 2013-14, posting a 44-38 record in his lone season. He went 139-152 in parts of four seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks. He's an assistant with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Van Gundy owns the most polished coaching resume with a 430-318 career record over 11 seasons with the New York Knicks and Houston Rockets. However, the current TV analyst hasn't coached since 2007.

Lue won an NBA title with the Cleveland Cavaliers with LeBron James in 2016. Lue finished with a 128-83 record in parts of four seasons with the Cavs. Lue is currently an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Vaughn coached the Orlando Magic prior to this stint with the Nets.
