INDIANAPOLIS - The Indianapolis Colts aren't done adding depth and competition at the cornerback position.

The team announced today that it has signed veteran free agent T.J. Carrie. Terms of the deal weren't immediately released.

Carrie, who turns 30 in July, brings plenty of experience to the Colts' cornerbacks room. A seventh-round pick by the Oakland Raiders in the 2014 NFL Draft, Carrie has played in 92 total games with 50 starts over the past six seasons with the Raiders and the Cleveland Browns.

In all, the 6-foot, 204-pound Carrie has collected 331 total tackles (12 for a loss) with five interceptions, 43 passes defensed, six forced fumbles, seven fumble recoveries, two sacks and five quarterback hits.

Carrie's signing is just the latest move at the cornerback position for the Colts the past couple weeks since the team released veteran starter Pierre Desir on March 21. Six days later, the Colts announced the signing of free agent corner Xavier Rhodes, a three-time Pro Bowler and First-Team All-Pro selection in 2017 with the Minnesota Vikings.

Both Rhodes and Carrie help add their brand of leadership for a young and talented group of Colts cornerbacks. Already set to return at corner in 2020 are starters Kenny Moore II - one of the better slot corners in the NFL - and 2019 second-round pick Rock Ya-Sin.

Also fighting for roster spots this offseason at cornerback are Marvell Tell III, Quincy Wilson, Picasso Nelson Jr., Lafayette Pitts and Jackson Porter.

But where Carrie can really help in particular is at the nickel cornerback position behind Moore II. While he has plenty of experience lined up on the outside, Carrie has averaged more than 350 snaps per season lined up in the slot over his six-year NFL career, including 326 snaps with the Browns last season.
